Unable To Read .xls File Of Microsoft Excel

MS Excel is a worldwide popular application, offered in Microsoft Office suit, which allows you to create spreadsheets, featuring various graphing and calculation tools. Until Excel 2007, the proprietary file extension used was .xls, which is also known as BIFF (Binary Interchange File Format). This format is widely used in your company and it cannot be replaced by any other program.

In few of the cases, while attempting to open an Excel spreadsheet, user may get the following error message:

“This file is not in a recognizable format” Or "Microsoft Excel unable to read file"

As an Excel recovery way, if the affected file is tried to be opened in word or notepad, user gets nothing but the gibberish view of the contents.

Reason

The prime reason for the appearance of above mentioned error message could be the corruption in file, which implies that we need to apply some excel repair solution so that we are able to open excel file. The Excel file corruption can be endorsed for virus attacks, unexpected shutdown, application faults, and network issues if the file has been downloaded.

Apart due to corruption, the specified error message can also appear if the user is attempting to open a Microsoft Works 3.0 or 4.0 file in Excel. Microsoft Works is an Office suit with less features and fewer functionality and core components include word processor, database and a spreadsheet. MS Excel doesn’t allow opening Microsoft Works 3.0 and 4.0 files in it.

Corrupted Excel file can be repaired through specialized Excel recovery software, which repairs these files through powerful scanning algorithms, which performs complete and thorough scan of excel file so as to recover as much data as possible. The software never deletes or modifies original data and even heavily damaged files can be optimally repaired and restored. Excel repair software are designed with interactive interface and so Excel recovery steps become easy to understand and follow.
